Lucrative interest emerges in Aston Villa lynchpin despite reported contract clause

Aston Villa fans here in the Tavern are delighted after the weekend’s 2-0 victory, a win that saw them down their bitter rivals Birmingham City.

Indeed, Steve Bruce appears to be mounting a push for an automatic promotion place, as Sunday’s 2-0 triumph in the Second City Derby has our local residents in absolute dreamland. Although, much of the success has been down to the leadership of one man in particular, as John Terry continues to be a driving force for the Villains. However, it seems as if his future may not lie with Villa Park come the end of the season, as according to reports in the Mail Online, John Terry is to make a decision on his Aston Villa future at the end of the season.

Indeed, the former Chelsea legend has a 12-month option in his current contract at Villa Park, with the outcome very much depending on whether Villa can manage to achieve promotion to the Premier League. Although, it looks as if his chances of remaining in the Midlands are slim, as he pledged to never face his beloved Blues after departing from Stamford Bridge.

And, the 37-year-old has also been approached about possible summer moves abroad to the USA, China and the Middle East. Therefore, with all the interest filtering in from clubs all over the world, it appears that the Villains will have to conjure up something pretty special to keep the Englishman in their ranks.

Landlord’s Verdict:

The former Chelsea defender has been key to Aston Villa’s promotion push so far this season, as both a leader and a defensive guardian. Indeed, the Villains will hope to keep him beyond this season after witnessing his efforts so far, although his love for Chelsea and interest elsewhere could take their toll on a potential future in the Midlands.
